How to Install on Windows

Step 01

Download the Archive

Grab the 1.4 MB archive — manifest, auto-patcher and checksum.

Step 02

Locate Your HOI4 Folder

In Steam, right-click HOI4 → Manage → Browse local files. Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV.

Step 03

Drop the Manifest

Copy the file into the HOI4 folder. Pick Replace — original is auto-backed up.

Step 04

Launch the Game

Start HOI4. The launcher lists every hearts of iron dlc as installed.

Step 05

Stay Patched

Auto-patcher fetches new manifests automatically.

How to Install on macOS

Universal binary for Intel and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4), macOS 11+.

Step 01

Download the macOS Archive

Lands in ~/Downloads.

Step 02

Quit Hearts of Iron IV

Fully quit HOI4 from the dock if open.

Step 03

Browse Local Files

Steam → right-click HOI4 → Manage → Browse local files. Path: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hearts of Iron IV/.

Step 04

Show Package Contents

Right-click hoi4.app → Show Package Contents → Contents/Resources/dlc/.

Step 05

Drop the Manifest

Unzip and drag dlc_manifest.json into the dlc/ folder — confirm with Touch ID.

Step 06

Bypass Gatekeeper

If macOS blocks the auto-patcher, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Step 07

Launch HOI4 from Steam

Paradox launcher lists every hearts of iron 4 dlc as installed.

Apple Silicon note: HOI4 runs through Rosetta 2 on M-series Macs. The unlocker is universal — no separate ARM build needed.

Rolling back: the original dlc_manifest.json is backed up to dlc/_backup_manifest.json. Delete the dropped file and rename the backup to revert.
